Latest drilling results on SIRIOS’ Cheechoo project

MONTREAL, QUEBEC–(Marketwired – Sept. 7, 2017) – Management of SIRIOS Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SOI) is pleased to announce assay results for the last eight diamond drill holes (#36E, and #101 to 107) completed on the Cheechoo Gold Property, in Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec. Main results consist of large, low grade gold intercepts in tonalite, as for example:

  • 49.1 m at 1.73 g/t Au including 4 m at 15.2 g/t Au in hole #103;
  • 117 m at 0.53 g/t Au in hole #106;
  • 55.9 m at 0.59 g/t Au in hole #104;
  • 46.1 m at 0.52 g/t Au in hole #36E.

Results published in this press release finalize the Winter 2017 drilling campaign completed in April for a total of 5,397 meters including 14 NQ drill holes (#94 to 107) and extensions of drill holes #36, 37, 58 and 82. A dozen drill holes intersected numerous gold bearing areas consisting of low grade zones including occasionally very high grade metric zones. In addition, auriferous mineralization was confirmed at vertical depths down to 500 meters in both meta-sedimentary and tonalitic rocks. Drill holes extended the Central auriferous mineralization area toward the north-west, and also, more to the west that has become the West area. (press releases March 6, May 9 and 30, 2017)

Dominique Doucet, President, states: “Results of our last drilling campaign are most encouraging, they will allow our drilling exploration pursuit on numerous high potential targets. Recently, we have also obtained valuable structural data from a logging survey in some drill holes. These data will help us to locate and define the geometry of numerous gold zones on Cheechoo.”

The extended delay for the release of assay results are due to, among other things, cumulative time for: sending core from the field site to the sawing center, half-core samples preparation, preparation and undertaking of numerous assays over the total length of each drill hole at a commercial laboratory, re-assays by metallic sieve as well as Sirios’s internal assay quality control procedure.

A table of all assays encompassing described intervals in the table above is available on the Sirios website at the following link:

Sirios’s fully owned Cheechoo property is located at Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec, at 800 km north of Montreal, 200 km east of Wemindji and less than 10 km of the Éléonore gold mine of the producer Goldcorp.

Assay quality control

All NQ drill cores were described by Sirios personnel at the Cheechoo exploration camp. They were then sent to Rouyn-Noranda to be sawed in half, with one half sent to a commercial laboratory for assaying and other half retained as future reference. A strict QA/QC program was followed by integrating blanks and standards to core samples sequence, all of which were prepared by Services Technominex Inc. of Rouyn-Noranda. They were then assayed for gold by fire assay and atomic absorption finish by Actlabs in Ste-Germaine-Boulé, close to Rouyn-Noranda. Samples grading more than 3 g/t were repeated at the lab. Drill core samples with visible gold or from suspected gold zones were assayed by pyro-analysis with metallic sieve from a sample of about 1 kg.
