MONTREAL, QUEBEC–(Marketwired – Aug. 10, 2016) – Management of SIRIOS (TSX VENTURE:SOI) gives a status update on current exploration program on the Cheechoo gold property, neighboring the gold mine Éléonore of Goldcorp at Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec. Until now, three drill holes have been completed in addition to a 160-m extension of drill hole #25 for a total of 1,008 metres. These first drill holes tested the extensions of several gold zones located in tonalite. Visible gold was observed in multiples spots in all four drill holes.
Visible gold was also observed for the first time in some locations in outcrop on surface where mechanical stripping was undertaken. Mechanical stripping is almost completed and the final washing of outcrops has been undertaken simultaneously with detailed mapping and channel surface sampling. Soil sampling also continues on some sectors of the property
Drill cores have been sent to Rouyn-Noranda for sawing and preparation for assays. One drill is currently in operation on the property while a second one will start drilling next week. Sirios plans to complete 10,000 metres of drilling for the 2016 summer-fall exploration campaign. The scheduled drill holes will test, among other things, the extension of the gold zone intersected by drill hole 52, extensions of some gold zones located in the tonalite or, in meta-sedimentary rocks as well as several other targets located along the contact between the two lithologies.
Sirios owns the Cheechoo gold property which is located at Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Quebec, at 800 km north of Montreal and less than 10 km of the Éléonore gold mine of the producer Goldcorp, that began its production in 2015.
