MONTREAL, QUEBEC–(CCNMatthews – April 6, 2006) – SIRIOS RESOURCES INC. (TSX VENTURE:SOI) just received on April 4 the final bottom lake sediment survey report on its wholly owned KUKAMES property. The major gold anomaly reported on November 10, 2005 has been confirmed and detailed by a second series of analysis by neutron activation and several other checks. This property is located in the OPINACA area where Goldcorp recently completed the acquisition of the ELEONORE gold deposit from Virginia Gold Mines, James Bay, Quebec.
The survey was carried out in July 2005 and comprises 295 samples, as part of a regional campaign totalling more than 2,200 samples. This survey was contracted by IOS Services Geoscientifiques of Chicoutimi, Quebec, and the assays were completed by Actlabs Laboratories, Ancaster, Ontario. All samples were assayed for 59 elements by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and for 34 elements by the neutron activation method. Quality control included the use of standards and duplicates by the contractor, assay standards, duplicates and blanks by the laboratory, as well as gold re-assay by fire assay with plasma finishing at ALS-Chemex for part of the samples.
Gold was initially assayed by ICP-MS with a detection limit of 0,5 ppb, by neutron activation with a detection limit of 1 ppb, as well as for some samples by fire assay with a detection limit of 1 ppb. Considering the multiplicity of analytical methods used and the problems associated with nugget effect distribution, the gold grade herein reported represents the average of the different assay methods including duplicates, with a cut-off of 10 ppb for the ICP-MS assay method. The average weighted grade is 1.7 ppb and the anomalous threshold is 5 ppb, in comparison with a regional background below the detection limit. Ten samples exceeded an average weighted grade between 10 and 20 ppb, which is considered highly anomalous. About 10% of the ICP-MS individual assays exceeded the 10 ppb cut-off, up to 115 ppb.
The latest results outlined a major regional gold anomaly that includes twenty anomalous lakes with strong structural control in the western part of the KUKAMES property. This anomaly is coincidental with the contact (suture) between the La Grande and Opinaca geological Sub-provinces. A few other distinct anomalies consisting of several adjacent lakes are located in the eastern part of the property. Some of the anomalies are associated with anomalous bismuth, tellurium, silver, uranium and tin contents. It was shown that the gold associated with these sediments is essentially hydromorphic, and not detritic. Glacial dispersion is very low.
The independent report concluded that the signature of the Kukames anomaly is of the same intensity and size, although different, as the one observed at the ELEONORE discovery.
The lake sediment geochemical report on the KUKAMES projerty was produced by Mr. Rejean Girard, Geo. and Qualified Person of IOS Services Geoscientifiques inc (IOS) from Chicoutimi. His report mentions that :
“The sediments of the KUKAMES property are highly and anomalously enriched in gold, with more than 40% of the samples above the detection limit. That enrichment was observed in the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and the neutron activation methods…”
“The gold distribution in the field is relatively well structured…”
“The southwestern limit of the property hosts a chain of anomalies. This distribution is parallel to the area tectonic grain, to a NW structure known to be gold bearing at the regional scale, as well as to the hydrographic pattern characterized by a series of parallel fractures. It is interesting to observe that this area is approximately coincidental with the proposed suture between the Opinaca and LaGrande geological Sub-provinces…”
“The different aspects of the present gold distribution suggest a local source. Considering the well-structured high values, the results fully warrant the planning of a systematic exploration campaign of the Kukames property…”
As follow-up, SIRIOS has planned a strong 2006 summer exploration programme with a $ 800,000 budget for its wholly-owned Opinaca region projects.
The recent staking of 160 claims should fully cover some new target areas; the KUKAMES property now hosts 1,133 claims for 600 square-km (148,000 acres).
