MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA–(Marketwire – Jan. 30, 2008) – SIRIOS RESOURCES INC. (TSX VENTURE:SOI) and partner DIOS EXPLORATION INC. received the final interpretation and processing report of its 2007 helicopter-borne gamma-ray spectrometry and magnetic survey over its UPINOR uranium property in the LaGuiche Basin, Quebec, Canada. That report outlined five first-priority kilometric size uranium zones including many coincidental with uranium lake bottom sediment anomalies and outcropping areas.
Late last fall, Geo Data Solutions of Laval, QC completed a 809 km-lines low-altitude gammay-ray spectrometry and magnetic survey flown with a 100 m line-spacing. Independant geophysical consultant Camille St-Hilaire has defined five first priority uranium zones with good Uranium/Thorium ratios in association with structural features.
The most significant A zone is a linear, east-west striking, 5 km by 0.2-0.5 km large geophysical anomaly showing high U/Th ratios, up to 3.0 times the background ratio. The A zone corresponds to an outcropping stratabound unit discovered last fall, characterized by continuous radioactive high counts per seconds (cps) measured on the ground surface in the order of several thousands cps up to 36,000 cps over a 2 km strike length (and a 600 m width). It consists of several radioactive outcropping sub-horizontal dykes (sills), one reaching some ten meters in thickness within metamorphic rocks (gneiss). A Rossing-type high tonnage low-grade uranium model is considered in association with numerous anatexis-granites occuring within the LaGuiche paragneisses.
About 70 outcrop samples were collected on the western-half of the A zone during the initial field reconnaissance program. Other significant (B and E) zones, extending respectively over 1.5 by 0.5 km and 2.0 by 0.2 – 0.5 km may represent the folded or faulted extents of the A zone. Both zones remain open along strike, and additional geophysical survey is planned to fully cover these zones as soon as field conditions permit it. No work was completed on the latter zones. The C and D zones correspond to 1.5 – 2.0 by 1.0 km geophysical anomalies and they appear more likely as intrusive shapes.
Major exploration targets will be field prospected such as the nose of the seemingly folded radioactive unit, its extent on one flank from 2 km long observed in the field, now reaching 5 km on the spectrometric survey, and finally its whole southern flank.
Interpretation from the detailed magnetic survey also shows very interesting geological features such as major faults, structures and lineaments.
The UPINOR uranium property comprises three main blocks totalling 404 claims. It is located about 30 kilometers north of the Opinaca Nord uranium project and about 50 km south of the Trans-Taiga road. The UPINOR project is held by SIRIOS in a 50-50 partnership with DIOS EXPLORATION, and DIOS is the operator. Fieldwork was completed by IOS Services Geoscientifiques of Chicoutimi.
